Communication

Aircraft
The aircraft has a good range of communications and navigational equipment including a satellite GPS (global positioning system), a storm scope and a HF radio which is linked to the mission network. At present, communication between missionaries is mostly done by our mission HF radios 3 times a day. Radio communication between the plane and home base is maintained throughout the flight. Usually the destination mission station comes on the radio as well. With the use of satellite phones and internet, 24 hr. communication can be maintained in the event of an emergency.

Satellite internet and phone
The Flight Service has purchased and operates a satellite internet system. This system serves all the missionaries at Kalene for its communications needs, such as internet, e-mail, and out-going international calls only. It has been a real blessing for all, and has made communication within Zambia and to the home countries affordable. Several other mission stations have also installed this system.
