Projects
Below are some of our current
projects:
-
Engine project:
The last engine change was done at Kalene in May/June 2003.
Since we are now a licensed AMO, we are able to do the engine
changes at Kalene instead of Botswana, which saves us much
time and cost. As of now the current engine has logged almost
1600 hours. This is
the mandatory overhaul time stated by the manufacturer and
required by the DCA (Department of Civil Aviation).
An inspection of other major items is needed at this time. This involves
replacement or overhaul of certain aircraft components, i.e. the
turbo charger, nose gear, propeller, etc., thorough inspection, and replacement of parts.
We have now ordered the new engine, and it is being shipped from
the USA in October. Lord willing, it should arrive in Zambia
soon. To maintain the high standard of quality and safety, our
policy is to purchase again a
re-manufactured engine from Continental to meet this
requirement.

2 Containers for
Flight House
We are in the process of transforming 2 containers into accommodation
facilities.
Upon completion, these accommodation containers will be used
at the Flight Service Guest House in Lusaka. These facilities
will include a bedroom with double bed, a bathroom with
shower, and sitting room. This will help to accommodate
additional guests. We look to the Lord to help finish off this
project.

Vehicle Project - Old
Flight Service Vehicle at Kalene
"For
11 years and over 176,000 kilometers, I have served the
Lord faithfully, until now. In the last days, I've been
getting slower and slower. Rarely could I get going over
50 km/hr. (31 mph). But that didn't matter. Considering
the bumpy, pothole infested roads here, I didn't want to
go faster than that anyway. But it seems the road finally
did me in. I'm up on blocks now, waiting for new spares to
arrive. It's been almost a year, and still not all my
parts have come. Being from a different tribe than most of
the other vehicles here in Zambia, it is very difficult to
get parts and very expensive for my owners. Pray that I
may get up and running again soon, or that someone else
may replace me, so that I can retire. It's been a hard
life, but I'm thankful that I could do it for the
Lord."
